Surf information:
- Nicaragua (The SW region) gets approximately 330 days per year offshore winds!
- The main swell season is from March until November, but Playa Maderas is one of the most consistent surf breaks of Nicaragua, and regardless of the swell there is always a wave to surf.
- Nicaragua is still not as crowded as a lot of other countries, but more and more surfers are discovering Nicaragua! Of course you can still beat the more crowded days by taking a boat out or by surfing early morning or late afternoon. Since the wind is offshore it is possible to do multiple sessions per day (depending on the tides of course), so crowds will spread out.
- Depending on the swell, Playa Maderas is suitable for all levels of surfing. It has several peaks, barreling sections and will hold up to double overhead. It works best at mid to high tide.
- We can organize surf trips by boat or by car (half a day or day). Within 30-45 minutes you’ll be able to get to other surf breaks by car or boat (Either south or north). Trips by car start at 60 USD (max 3-4 persons), by boat from 170 USD half day (4-5hrs, max 6 persons, incl. snacks & beverages).
- We rent out boards and organize surf lessons. Board rental is 15 USD pp (good beginner- and intermediate boards, 6.5 to 9.0) and lessons (1 hour) are 35 USD pp, including board for the day.
